"Better Times" Original oil painting will be displayed during February at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center, Greeneville, Tn, honoring Black History Month.
Times were hard during the early years in our county for all peoples. Each day brought trials and tribulations, yet through hard work and a strong faith in God they persevered. Survival required them to be frugal and self sufficient. They worked diligently to preserve their bounty, yet willingly shared what they had with others.
While peeling apples, this young girl ponders better times, be they yesterday, today or tomorrow. Perhaps it will be during the cold winter days ahead when the delicious aroma of hot apple pies wafts through a warm and cozy home.
