“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” Martin Luther King Jr.

Mr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, advocating racial harmony, was given during the March on Washington in 1963. Instrumental in raising public consciousness of the civil rights movement, he was one of the greatest orators in U.S. history.

As a child of the 60’s, I well remember this event and the fateful day of April 4, 1968. It was and is my prayer that we are judged by the content of our character, not our outward appearance. After all, we are God’s children.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 2:27

This painting along with numerous other works honoring Black History Month will be on display at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville, Tennessee during February, 2010.
